Local primary schools take to the stage at annual Primary Dance Festival

William Brookes School hosted their annual Primary Dance Festival at The Edge Arts Centre in Much Wenlock earlier this term.

The school welcomed pupils aged from 4 – 11 from local primary schools including Brockton, Broseley C of E, Christ Church and Church Preen, as well as John Wilkinson Primary School and Much Wenlock Primary School from The 3-18 Education Trust.

Each school performed a piece on the theme of films and musicals with exciting numbers from Matilda, Annie, Wicked, Minions and a Disney mash-up to name but a few.

Lucy Leason, Head of Year 7 and Dance Teacher at William Brookes School, said: “Beauty and the Beast opened our show this year, which truly represented the wonderful growth our students make throughout their school lives with us. Our more experienced dancers at William Brookes performed with some of our youngest members of the cast; it was truly wonderful to see them all on stage together.”

William Brookes School students aged 11 – 18 also joined the primary school pupils in their performances with numbers from James Bond and Grease including some talented soloist and duet performances from Year 9 students. A Grease medley closed the show with an exciting opportunity for all our talented dancers to come together for one last time.

A parent described this year’s event: “I think it is the best one yet!”

A wonderful evening was had by all and well done to everyone who was involved in this fantastic show!

The 3-18 Education Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) of primary and secondary schools across Shropshire, with a community of over 5,000 students.
